Chris Kaiser has always been fascinated by the interaction between people and the natural environment. Nature is by turns imposing and inspiring, but people have left an inescapable and often massive impact. Chris's work depicts the ways in which people have sought to live within the landscape, as well as the environment they have tried to tame.

In particular, Chris is interested in the detritus left behind by people who tried and failed to subdue the wild landscape of the American West. In his photography, he seeks to capture not only the environment that is slowly reclaiming the sites of those failed attempts, but also the tension between the original design and the current appearance of the artifacts and structures left behind.
